Abstract
This report outlines my experience as a Data Scientist during my internship at Tata Steel in Beverwijk, Netherlands, from August to November 2024. Tata Steel, a leading steel manufacturer, faced issues with SEN (Submerged Entry Nozzle) clogging and surface defects in one of their steel grades, UTAM. These problems led to product returns from customers and, in severe cases, slowed down or halted production. My task was to analyze Optical Emission Spectroscopy–Pulse Discrimination Analysis (OES-PDA) data to identify the root causes of these issues. Through this project, I gained hands-on experience in data analysis, programming, and data visualization, while also developing technical skills in problem-solving and working with real-world industrial data. This internship provided valuable insights into how data science can be applied in a manufacturing environment to address operational challenges.
