Abstract

The global transition toward sustainable transport has underlined the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions coming from the logistics sector. Electric heavy trucks (EHTs) represent a promising solution, yet their adoption among logistics partners remains limited due to economic, behavioural, and infrastructural barriers. This thesis explores the determinants of EHT adoption within a digital mobility platform context, with a focus on how policy and market context moderate these factors. Using a qualitative approach, this study conducts semi-structured interviews with logistics partners to uncover the interplay between high upfront costs, risk perceptions, charging infrastructure limitations, and external pressures such as subsidies, regulatory mandates, and customer demand. The research aims to provide actionable insights for policymakers, industry stakeholders, and platform providers to accelerate the adoption of sustainable transport solutions.
