Abstract
In 2023 the PVV party achieved significant gains in the national elections, causing a significant uproar in the Dutch political landscape. This thesis serves to analyse as to how this could have happened. Using a qualitative comparative analysis approach this thesis analyses the difference between the PVV party’s 2021 and 2023 party program. This is done by isolating three distinct categories of change to look at how the party changed their policies regarding economics and how they changed the framing surrounding these policies. On top of this a brief theorisation as to why they might have decided to implement these changes given the situation the Netherlands was in at the time of the latter elections. The primary changes that were found was that the PVV decided to put significantly greater emphasis on the economic aspect of their party program, specifically on purchasing power. They also decided to change up the type of wording used in this specific chapter of the party program.
