Abstract

This report reflects on my internship experience at Philips, conducted as part of the Data Science & Society program at Campus Fryslân. The internship provided a valuable opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a real-world setting, particularly in the areas of data governance, ethical data handling, and machine learning. I gained hands-on experience in data acquisition, system configuration, and stakeholder communication within a large corporate structure. The project involved cleaning and analyzing complex datasets and applying explainable AI methods such as SHAP to generate actionable insights. The experience enhanced both my technical and soft skills and confirmed the relevance of my academic training to industry needs. Overall, the internship significantly contributed to my professional development and clarified my career interests in data science and healthcare technology.
