Abstract

An increasing demand for organizational transparency is clearly observable and especially relevant for sustainable businesses. Price transparency is one way to meet this call by sharing information about the components of the selling price. This article investigates the drivers and the barriers to implementing price transparency. Based on semi-structured interviews with a sustainable company, four drivers and four barriers are identified. Namely, the implementation is driven by the company’s sustainability mission, the costumer orientation, the sales promotion, and the business strategy as such. Opposingly, the barriers are the uncertain reactions, the business context, the implementation itself, and the corporate disadvantages.
