Abstract
This study aims to bridge the research gap on the adoption possibilities of blockchain technology in supply chain management that can promote circular economy practices. Using an abductive research approach, qualitative semi-structured interviews were conducted with representatives and experts from organizations, companies, and government agencies who had adequate knowledge of blockchain-based supply chain management systems that could promote circular economy practices. The findings show that blockchain technology can contribute to supply chain management in various ways to promote the circular economy. However, the findings suggest that the first step for supply chain stakeholders is to get better at the data of their business processes so that their decision-making process can be better organized. Only then does it become relevant to consider whether blockchain technology can add value to supply chain management to achieve a defined objective. This study is one of the first attempts to examine the integration of blockchain technology in supply chain management to promote a circular economy.
