Abstract
Joensuun Monikulttuurisuusyhdistys (JoMoni) (eng: The Multicultural Association of Joensuu) is an organization based in Joensuu, Finland, that promotes antiracism as well as advocates for the rights of immigrants in Finland. As I started my internship at the organization, I was assigned a main task to do research on the well-being of refugee women living in Joensuu. This research was done using activist research method as a framework. The research revealed that refugee women in Joensuu face problems particularly emerging from isolation, scarce amount of free time, lack of education as well as language barriers. As ways to begin solving these problems, our project concluded with multiple recommendations from establishing social groups to increase networking, to collaborating with local companies to provide the women and their families with affordable activities.
